My photographic arc began when I was a fifteen-year-old freshman in high school.  Since then, my passion has been centered around Florida‘s nature and wildlife, as I am a rare, born-and-raised Floridian.  We may not have the iconic majesty of many geographic locations, such as mountains and waterfalls, but I love what we do have in this southern peninsula, and take pleasure in creating images of it.  NatureQuest Photography began in 2004, and I have had work published in Nature’s Best Magazine, the American Quarter Horse Journal, and for the Institute for Southeast Asian Studies.  Writings have been published in Herpetological Review and Outdoor Photography Canada magazine.  My images have been used or displayed at Lyonia Preserve, Brevard Zoo, Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Fort Worth Zoo, the C.A.R.E. Foundation, and the Reptile Discovery Center.  Select images are available for commercial license through Photographer’s Direct stock agency in the United Kingdom and AGE Fotostock.  I have an Associate of Science degree in Photographic Technology from Daytona State College‘s Southeast Center of Photographic Studies.

Some favorite photographers of mine–both well-known (Michael “Nick” Nichols, Andy Rouse, Art Wolfe, Clyde Butcher, Jeff Ripple, Brian F. Call) and local (Paul Marcellini, Angie Chestnut, and many more–if I left you out, don’t be offended: I can’t list everyone)!  There are so many fabulous photographers today, it’s really difficult to try and narrow it down.

Some past tidbits about me: I volunteered at an exotic animal rescue for twelve years, and in the husbandry of venomous snakes for five years, been employed at two AZA-accredited zoos for several years each, and used to swing dance and Latin dance.  I am a pretty good grower of tropical fruit trees, which is surprising since I used to be able to kill a plastic plant!  I like making things myself where I can, including dog treats and laundry detergent, among other things, because a tight budget necessitates it.  I am a Florida Master Naturalist, and have been a Certified Interpretive Guide with the National Association for Interpretation.  Books are another passion, and some favorite authors are Carl Hiaasen, Marian Keyes, Peter Matthiessen, and Jane Lindskold.  I have realized an affinity for Euopean magazines (not that kind, the photography ones!!!), and repurposing/upcycling materials.  Big Bang Theory is a big hit in our house, and Planet Earth DVDs will always attract attention if put on the TV.

This blog is here for the same reason others have one: the random stuff that pops in your head, or maybe that which you can’t get OUT of your head.  So here is mine.  Thanks for your interest.  Enjoy!

Being the flexible sort, I also shoot other work for weddings, events, product (table-top), etc.  You can check out my other work here:
